Frass is known as a valuable organic fertiliser, but there is still much to learn about its optimal application. Which dosage fits which crop? What is the best timing? And how does frass perform in practice under different growing conditions?
This week, we supplied several bags of our hygienised mealworm manure to EntoFarm for the project FrassCycle: Resilient Soil Boost.
Within this project, different applications, dosages and timings are being compared, including in maize. The goal is to build more practical knowledge on how frass can be used effectively in agriculture.
Frass is the organic residual stream from insect farming: a combination of manure, shed skins and feed residues. In our case, it is mealworm manure that is collected, hygienised and processed on our own farm.
We look forward to the insights that EntoFarm and the project partners within FrassCycle will gain.
