Mealworm development project

Winsect is participating in the a collective project for the development of a new technical system for producing mealworms.

The development will focus on using belt for the production instead of crates. This will make production easier to automate and will therefore reduce production costs significantly.

The research project will focus on all required basic components for a mealworm production system, such as climate control, control panel, sieving, feeding etc. The project will also involve attempts to increase the use of organic waste streams for feeding, as this will make mealworm even more sustainable.

The project is called ‘Sustainable Protein Production Achterhoek”. Achterhoek is referring to the region in the Netherlands in which we are located.

The project is supported by Regio Achterhoek.
